Tuesday, 18 August 2026   Indonesia and Germany are working together to develop a more modern and sustainable transportation system in the Greater Surabaya area. One of the key projects is the Surabaya Regional Railway Line, or SRRL, which is expected to make daily travel easier while supporting a greener future for East Java.   The cooperation became more concrete in June 2025 when the Indonesian Ministry of Finance and Germany’s development bank, KfW, signed a 230-million-euro loan agreement for the first phase of the SRRL project.   Friday, 07 August 2026   Surabaya is taking another step toward a more modern public transportation system, and Germany is becoming an important partner in the process. The German and Indonesian governments have agreed to support the Surabaya Regional Railway Line, or SRRL, with a total of EUR 236 million in German loans and grants.   The project is part of a larger effort to improve public transportation in Greater Surabaya.
