More people also means more private vehicles on the roads, which can lead to traffic congestion and higher carbon emissions. This is where Germany is stepping in to support the development of a greener public transportation system in Surabaya.   Through Germany’s KfW Development Bank, the country has shown its commitment to supporting sustainable transportation projects in Indonesia. Traffic jams, air pollution, and long travel times can quickly become part of daily life. In Surabaya, Indonesia, the government is working on a major solution: expanding the regional railway network with support from Germany.   The project is part of Indonesia and Germany’s cooperation in developing greener infrastructure.
