Managing waste, keeping public spaces clean, and creating a healthier urban environment require cooperation from many different sides.   Germany has shown interest in working with the Medan City Government on these issues. A meeting between Medan Deputy Mayor Aulia Rachman and German Ambassador to Indonesia Ina Ruth Luise Lepel discussed possible cooperation, especially in the areas of environmental management and cleanliness. One organization that has an important role in supporting this cooperation is COFIDES, a Spanish company that provides financial support for Spanish businesses investing abroad.   In 2015, COFIDES took part in the Spain-Indonesia Investment and Business Cooperation Forum in Jakarta.
