  Thursday, 03 September 2026   Indonesia and Spain have been looking at ways to strengthen their economic relationship, particularly in trade and investment. With both countries having different strengths and markets, there is plenty of room for cooperation in the years ahead.   The discussion took place during the 2022 G20 Trade, Investment, and Industry Ministerial Meeting (TIIMM) in Bali. Indonesian Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan met with Spain’s Industry, Trade, and Tourism Minister María Reyes Maroto Illera to discuss opportunities for expanding cooperation between the two countries.   During the meeting, both sides saw potential for increasing trade and investment in several sectors.   Thursday, 03 September 2026   Surabaya is one of Indonesia’s busiest cities, and as the population grows, getting around the city can sometimes be a challenge. More people also means more private vehicles on the roads, which can lead to traffic congestion and higher carbon emissions. This is where Germany is stepping in to support the development of a greener public transportation system in Surabaya.   Through Germany’s KfW Development Bank, the country has shown its commitment to supporting sustainable transportation projects in Indonesia.
