Jakarta and Germany are strengthening their cooperation in an area that is becoming more important for the future: energy and human resources. The two countries are not only talking about investment in renewable energy, but are also looking at how Indonesian workers and young people can develop the skills needed for a changing economy.<\/p>\n

Germany sees Indonesia as an important partner in Southeast Asia. German companies have already been active in Indonesia for years, with more than 250 German companies operating in the country. According to Airlangga, their cumulative investment reached around US$1.2 billion between 2021 and 2026.<\/p>\n

But energy is only one part of the cooperation.<\/p>\n

Radovan said Germany is committed to expanding vocational training cooperation between the two countries. Indonesian young people could have opportunities to learn German and take part in training programs, either in Indonesia or Germany. German companies can also become part of these programs.<\/p>\n

This kind of cooperation can be useful because the energy industry is changing quickly. Renewable energy, modern electricity systems, energy efficiency, and other green technologies need workers with practical and technical skills.<\/p>\n

The cooperation also involves several organizations, including the German Embassy in Indonesia, the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ), the German Development and Investment Bank (KfW), and the German Chamber of Commerce. Their involvement can help connect government programs with businesses, training institutions, and potential investment projects.<\/p>\n

Renewable energy is another major part of the discussion. Indonesia is working to attract international funding for its clean-energy transition through the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).
