Germany is continuing to support Indonesia’s efforts to move toward cleaner and more sustainable energy. During a visit to Indonesia, German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Reem Alabali Radovan reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to supporting the country’s energy transition.<\/p>\n

Radovan visited Indonesia from August 18 to 20, 2026, as part of a delegation that included companies working in the sustainable energy sector. Germany and Indonesia Strengthen Energy Cooperation<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Energy transition is becoming an important part of Indonesia’s development plans. The country is working to expand cleaner energy while improving its electricity system.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Germany is supporting these efforts through development cooperation and its role in the Just Energy Transition Partnership, or JETP. The partnership was launched in 2022 to mobilize financing for Indonesia’s clean energy transition and support the development of affordable and clean energy.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For Germany, Indonesia is also considered an important partner. Radovan said Indonesia is one of the countries where Germany wants to deepen cooperation, particularly by strengthening relationships between German companies and Indonesian partners.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Renewable Energy and Modern Electricity Grids<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n One area of cooperation involves renewable energy and modern electricity networks.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n According to Radovan, Germany is investing in renewable energy and modern electricity grids as part of its cooperation with Indonesia. She also said these projects can contribute to climate protection, create jobs in Indonesia, and open new opportunities for German companies.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This means the cooperation is not only about environmental goals. The event brought together policymakers, development partners, private companies, academics, and civil society groups to discuss energy cooperation.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Events like this can provide a place for different groups to discuss practical solutions for Indonesia’s changing energy needs.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Germany is also part of the International Partners Group supporting Indonesia’s JETP. Other members include Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, Japan, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the European Union.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For Jakarta and Indonesia more broadly, cooperation with Germany can therefore involve more than government-to-government relations.
