Lombok is once again attracting international attention. This time, property investors from Dubai are looking at Central Lombok as a promising destination for tourism and real estate development. The plan could become another major milestone in Lombok’s transformation into one of Indonesia’s fastest-growing tourism hubs.

According to reports, Dubai-based investor Samir Ahmed Munshi from Silver Heavy Real Estate is interested in developing tourism-related properties in the Selong Belanak area of Central Lombok. The project is expected to include three-star, four-star, and five-star hotels, along with shopping centers and supporting tourism facilities.

Selong Belanak has become one of Lombok’s most popular destinations thanks to its stunning white-sand beach, beautiful sunsets, and growing reputation among surfers and international travelers. With tourism demand increasing, investors see strong potential for hospitality and commercial developments in the area.

What makes this investment particularly interesting is its scale. Reports indicate that around 20 hectares of land could be developed for hotels, restaurants, and retail facilities. Such projects have the potential to create jobs, improve local infrastructure, and attract even more visitors to Lombok.

Another positive aspect is the focus on local employment. The developers have stated that local residents will be involved in both construction and hospitality operations. Training programs are also planned to help local workers gain professional skills and certifications. The goal is to ensure that economic benefits are shared with the surrounding communities.

This investment interest is not happening by accident. Over the past few years, Lombok has benefited from significant infrastructure improvements, including better roads, tourism facilities, and government-backed projects such as the Mandalika Special Economic Zone. These developments have increased investor confidence and made the island more accessible to international travelers.

Compared to Bali, Lombok still offers relatively affordable land prices and more room for future development. Many investors see it as an opportunity to enter a market that is still growing rather than one that has already matured.

Of course, rapid growth also brings challenges. Sustainable planning, environmental protection, and responsible development will be important to ensure Lombok maintains its natural beauty while welcoming new investments. Many tourism destinations around the world have learned that growth must be balanced with preservation.

Overall, the planned investment from Dubai reflects growing international confidence in Central Lombok. If executed successfully, these projects could strengthen Lombok’s position as a world-class tourism destination while creating new opportunities for local businesses and communities. For investors, tourism operators, and residents alike, the future of Central Lombok looks increasingly promising.
